I found a great art project in Discovering Great Artists by Maryann Kohl. To get us warmed up, we drew a picture with one line. No picking up your pencil! This got the kids problem solving on how to get the end result they wanted by doubling back on lines. Each child then got 10 to 15 feet of low gauge steel wire. I got 250 feet at Lowe's for around 5 dollars.
This project was really fun, but it was more difficult than it sounds.
Here we have a bird with a nest and its egg.
Here we have a person and a flower. Ha! The toes are in a star shape, otherwise she wouldn't stand up.
